Besan Ladoo

I started my diwali sweet preparation today with besan ladoo. It’s my daughter’s most favourite sweet. When we were in Muscat, for every diwali, my good friend Asawari used to make besan ladoo. I sure she will be making this year too. My daughter is a big fan of her ladoos 🙂

Ingredients

Besan ( bengal gram flour/ kadala maavu) – 4 cups
Ghee – 1 cup + 1 tbsp
Sugar – 1 +3/4th cup
Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
Cashew nuts – 2 tbsps

Method

Sieve the besan and keep it ready.

Powder the sugar.

Roast the cashew nuts in 1 tbsp of ghee and keep it aside.

Heat one cup of ghee in a heavy bottom pan. Let it melt completely.

Add the besan. Mix well. Sauté on a medium flame till the besan turns golden and you get a good aroma ( it will take around 15-20 mins).

Now take it off the gas. Add the powdered sugar , roasted cashew nuts and cardamom powder. Mix very well and let it cool for some time.

When it is still warm, take a small portion of the dough and roll into a smooth ball.
Similarly make all the ladoos 🙂
