7 Cups Burfi

It’s been a long time since I posted anything in my website. I had taken a long break due to lot of reasons. Now, am back to blogging with a very easy to make sweet dish, 7 Cups Burfi. As the name suggests, this burfi is made with 7 cups of ingredients. It’s probably one of the easiest burfi that one can make.
I had made this burfi for the first time when I was studying in college. I still remember the excitement and joy that I felt when the burfi turned out to be a great hit:)
With that same joy, I am sharing this recipe with all of you:)

Ingredients

Besan ( kadala maavu/ bengal gram flour) – 1 cup
Milk – 1 cup
Grated coconut- 1 cup
Melted ghee – 1 cup
Sugar – 3 cups
Water – 1/4th cup
Cardamom powder – 1/4th tsp

Method

Sieve the besan and keep it aside.
Heat a pan. Add sugar and 1/4th cup water. Cook till the sugar melts.

Switch off the gas.
Now add the rest of the ingredients.
Mix well ( use a whisk) to ensure that there are no lumps.

Grease a plate with ghee and keep it ready.
Switch on the gas, keep it in medium flame.
Keep stirring the mixture while cooking. As the mixture starts getting thicker, add the cardamom powder.
The batter will froth up well, will become thick and will start leaving the pan.
At this stage, pour it into the greased plate and spread it.

Gently tap the plate to level it.
Pat the cake gently with the back of ladle to make it even and smooth.
Let it cool for few mins.
Cut it into desired shape.

Let it cool completely. Now take out the cut pieces and store in an airtight container.

  1. Lovely Anu. I sometimes use maida instead of besan. I know maida is unhealthy, but we like that taste better
